Hiking tour 18-22 August 2026

Alta Via dei Silenzi from Sappada to Pieve di Cadore

Five days of hiking from Rifugio to Rifugio through the silence of the Eastern Dolomites.

This 5-day hiking trip with 4 nights in Rifugio follows a customized itinerary, designed specifically to enjoy the solitude and charm of the less-known Dolomites.

The Dolomites Alta Via number 6, also known as the "Alta Via dei Silenzi" (Alta Via of Silence), runs along little-known trails surrounded by a fascinating, solitary environments and pure silence. We are far from the noisier and more crowded areas of the Dolomites. This is a real multi-day hike for expert hikers!

The itinerary, customized by our guides, consists of 5 days of hiking and 4 nights in Rifugio, covering a total of 65 kilometers and over 5000 meters of elevation gain. For 5 days, we hike at an altitude of around 2000 meters, crossing the main mountain ranges of the eastern Dolomites, including the Clap, the Sauris Mountains, the Tiarfin, and the Cridola.

The "Alta Via dei Silenzi" from Sappada to Pieve di Cadore is a hiking tour reserved for experienced and well-trained hikers. Along the route, there are several challenging passages on EE (Expert Hikers) trail sections.

Joining this adeventure will allow all participants to immerse themselves in a wild, beautiful natural environment, extremely solitary and untamed. A must for those who want to experience the Dolomites before they are invaded by mass tourism. This tour is reserved for lovers of silence and tranquility.

The technical level required is for expert hikers. It is necessary to be fit as we are going to hike from 6 to 9 hours a day.

Daily Program

Sappada and the Clap
Elevation* +1000m/-400m Length* 10km

We meet in Pieve di Cadore at 9:30 AMA where, thanks to a private transfer, we reach Sappada, a charming little village in the Dolomites on the border with South Tyrol and Austria. From here we set off on our 5-day tour.
The first stage offers two different options depending on weather conditions. In both cases, we will hike through the Enghe valley until we reach the southern side of the Clap. Packed lunch.

The meeting point is easily accessible by train or car from Venice, Treviso, and Belluno. Free parking is available for the duration of the excursion. It is possible to stay overnight in the area the night before at a reasonable cost if booked in advance.

Friuli Dolomites and Mount Tiarfin
Elevation* +1000m/-1000m Length* 16km

We continue our tour through surrounded by wild nature that man has not yet made easily accessible. Technically easier than the previous day, but substantially longer in terms of distance. We are in no hurry and enjoy the silence of the mountains... that's why we're here!
Depending on the weather conditions and the group, the guide will decide which trails and possible variations to take. In the afternoon, we reach our second Rifugio, small, well-kept, and very welcoming... We are ready for dinner! Packed lunch or lunch at the Rifugio.

Towards the Cridola through enchanting woods
Elevation* +1100m/-1400m Length* 15km

This third day also awaits us with a rather long but not technically difficult stage. We initially cross many woods with ups and downs that are never too demanding. After crossing the Carnica road, we climb up to leave the vegetation behind and find ourselves once again in a 100% Dolomite environment.
Our Rifugio is not far away. It is located in a splendid position at the foot of the most famous peaks of the Friulian Dolomites, including Cridola, Cima Giaf, Cima Bianchi, and many others! Packed lunch or lunch at the Rifugio.

Between Veneto and Friuli along marvelous trails
Elevation* +1350m/-900m Length* 11km

Fourth day of adventures between Veneto and Friuli. Depending on the weather conditions and the group, the guide will decide which trails to follow and how high to climb. Crossing the Cridola group on foot on a beautiful sunny day is a unique pleasure: the higher you go, the more the view rewards you, even if the terrain becomes increasingly challenging.
After the crossing, an intermediate Rifugio awaits us for lunch before the final climb to reach our last small wooden Rifugio. Packed lunch or lunch at the bar.

Along Lares ridge down to the valley
Elevation* +650m/-1200m Length* 8km

The final day of our hiking tour takes us from high altitude back to the parking lot where we left our cars five days earlier. Early in the morning, after leaving our last Rifugio, we make our way down into the valley step by step along a steep trail nestled in a beautiful forest. Lake Cadore is getting closer and closer, and we can’t wait to dip our feet in once the descent is over... It’s time to say goodbye :(

End of the tour, return to the valley scheduled between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM

*Depending on weather and group conditions, everyday the guide reserves the right to change the indicated elevation gains and lengths.
